Why enclose the shower instead of using an open combination unit
Three reasons show up on almost every outdoor specification. First, privacy. A casualty who must strip contaminated clothing will use a booth; they may refuse an open pad in a busy tank farm. Second, spray control. Wind on an unsheltered rose wastes water and soaks adjacent equipment. The 1.2 mm stainless walls keep the 15-minute flush inside the sump. Third, siting. A booth can sit on a concrete plinth next to a loading rack or battery room without a building around it.
The emergency eyewash and shower station is the first-response tool after a splash of acid, alkali, solvent, or battery electrolyte. Standards do not replace a medical plan, but they do set the minimum flush that a booth must deliver so the casualty can stay under water for a full 15 minutes. DAAO6604 is sized to those minima: shower ≥ 75.7 L/min (20 gpm) and eye/face wash ≥ 11.4 L/min (3.0 gpm). Standards the DAAO6604 is built to meet
ANSI/ISEA Z358.1-2014 is the document most North American sites and many global EPCs put on the data sheet. It requires a drench shower to deliver at least 75.7 L/min of flushing fluid for 15 minutes at a velocity that will not injure the user, and an eye/face wash to deliver at least 11.4 L/min to both eyes (and the face) at the same duration. Valves must go from off to on in one second and stay open hands-free. EN 15154-1 covers body showers and EN 15154-2 covers eye washes in Europe; DAAO6604 is specified to EN 15154-1/2:2006 as well as ANSI Z358.1:2014.
Those standards sit beside OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151(c), which requires “suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing” where corrosive materials are present. OSHA does not reprint the litres-per-minute table; inspectors use Z358.1 as the recognized practice. A booth that cannot hold 15 minutes of flow, or that freezes on the night shift, is not a suitable facility. Flow, pressure, and tepid water
DAAO6604 is rated for 0.2–0.8 MPa supply pressure. Below about 0.2 MPa the rose and the eye/face heads may not reach the published flows. Above 0.8 MPa you need a regulator so the stream is not injurious. ANSI also expects tepid flushing fluid, commonly discussed as about 16–38 °C. The booth’s stated ambient range is 5 °C to 55 °C. That is not the same as “the water will stay tepid at −20 °C.” For freeze-risk yards, specify heat tracing, an insulated jacket, or a tempered-water skid from our tempered water systems list. The enclosure still helps in cold climates by cutting wind chill and giving a dry place to operate the valve; heating is what keeps the pipe from freezing.
Construction: 304 or 316L, 1.2 mm walls, ABS heads
The cabinet is 304 stainless steel as standard, 1.2 mm wall. Coastal, chlor-alkali, and high-chloride plants should step up to SS316L. Both grades take a wipe-down after a chemical event; painted carbon steel does not. Inside, the shower riser hangs on the centerline so the casualty stands fully under the rose. The eye/face wash sits at a reachable height with an ABS spray head and ABS bowl — the usual choice for a smooth, chemical-resistant surface that will not rust around the aerators. Options include color, material, and overall dimension when the plinth or door swing will not take 1000 × 900 × 2380 mm.
Alarm packages matter on a booth that may sit out of sight of the control room. DAAO6604 can ship with audible and visual local alarms and a remote wireless alarm so a pull of the shower or a push of the eye-wash paddle lights the beacon and pages the control room. Where to install the booth
Place the enclosure on a level, drained plinth within 10 seconds’ travel of the hazard — the distance ANSI discusses as about 16.8 m (55 ft) on a clear path, closer for strong acids. Do not put a locked door, a step, or a hose reel in that path. Pipe the NPT 1-1/4 drain to a chemical sewer or a neutralization sump; do not dump a contaminated flush into storm water. Keep the green “EMERGENCY SHOWER ROOM” header visible from the process aisle and light the approach for night shifts. For indoor tank rooms with no frost risk, a smaller combination shower and eye wash may be enough. For outdoor loading bays, battery rooms, and remote skids, the enclosed room is the correct class of equipment.

No. Fifteen minutes of flush is first aid. The site still needs a spill plan, PPE, and a route to medical care.
304 or 316L?
Use 304 for most inland chemical and food plants. Use 316L near the sea, in bleach or HCl service, or where the client specification already calls for 316L pipe.
Will it work below 5 °C?
The standard ambient rating starts at 5 °C. For freeze climates, order heat tracing, insulation, or tempered water and confirm the electrical area class. The booth is “suitable for cold climates” as an enclosure; the water system must be specified for frost.
