Tank-Fed and Freeze-Protected Emergency Safety Systems for Chemical Facilities in Washington State
DAO has maintained a long-term cooperation with Two Rivers Terminal, LLC, a diversified chemical formulator, distributor and importer headquartered in Pasco, Washington, USA.
Two Rivers Terminal operates facilities in Pasco and Moses Lake, Washington, and Umatilla, Oregon, with more than 15,000 tons of liquid storage capacity and 18,000 tons of dry-product storage capacity. Its operations cover agricultural inputs, industrial chemicals, specialty chemicals and related products.
Over several years of cooperation, DAO has supplied different emergency shower and eyewash configurations for use at the customer’s industrial facilities. The equipment shown in this case has been installed within the customer’s operating chemical sites, providing a valuable real-world reference for DAO emergency safety systems in the United States.

Emergency Safety Equipment for Different Site Conditions
Chemical production and storage facilities do not always have identical emergency flushing requirements.
Water-supply conditions, outdoor temperatures, freezing risk and equipment location can influence the appropriate system configuration. During our cooperation with Two Rivers Terminal, DAO supplied both tank-fed emergency shower and eyewash enclosures and cable-heated freeze-protected combination shower and eyewash stations.
These two system types address different challenges commonly encountered in outdoor chemical facilities.
Tank-Fed Emergency Shower & Eyewash Enclosure
The DAAO6604-6 Tank-Fed Emergency Shower & Eyewash Enclosure uses an integrated 1500 L overhead water tank to provide a dedicated reserve of emergency flushing water.
The enclosure incorporates a full-body emergency shower and eye/face wash, with rated flows of ≥75.7 L/min for the shower and ≥11.4 L/min for the eyewash. The stainless-steel insulated enclosure also houses the shower, eyewash, piping and associated components within an integrated system.
This type of tank-fed configuration can reduce dependence on the immediate availability, pressure and flow of the site’s water supply, making it suitable where a dedicated emergency water reserve is required.

Freeze-Protected Emergency Shower & Eyash
For outdoor locations exposed to freezing conditions, DAO also supplied a cable-heated freeze-protected combination shower and eyewash system.
The DAAO6615-EH-Z Freeze-Protected Combination Shower & Eyewash combines stainless-steel water piping with insulation, a protective outer shell and electric heat tracing. Its purpose is to protect the water-containing components against freezing while retaining both emergency shower and eyewash functions.
The current model specification is rated for ambient temperatures down to −25°C, with shower flow ≥75.7 L/min and eyewash flow ≥11.4 L/min. Importantly, freeze protection and water tempering are different requirements: the heat-tracing system protects the equipment against freezing; projects requiring tepid flushing water need a separate water-temperature solution.

From Equipment Supply to Real-World Installation
Several years after the initial supply, DAO’s emergency shower systems can be seen installed within Two Rivers Terminal’s operating facilities.
The tank-fed enclosures are positioned directly among chemical storage tanks, process piping and other plant equipment. A freeze-protected combination shower is also installed in an outdoor process area.
For DAO, these site installations are particularly valuable because they show the equipment beyond the factory and shipment stage—installed in the environment for which it was supplied.
Returning to Two Rivers Terminal
During a U.S. business trip last year, DAO’s management team returned to the Two Rivers Terminal facility and met with the customer’s team.
The visit provided an opportunity to see previously supplied emergency shower systems installed within the customer’s operating facility and to continue the relationship established through earlier projects.
The Pasco location shown in the visit is Two Rivers Terminal’s facility at 3300 North Glade Road, Pasco, Washington, which is also listed by the company as one of its principal industrial locations.
For us, the significance of this project is not simply that emergency shower equipment was exported to the United States. It represents a relationship that continued from initial equipment supply to real-world installation and a later customer visit.

Selecting the Right System for the Site
The Two Rivers Terminal installations also illustrate why emergency shower selection should begin with the actual site conditions rather than with a single standard product.
A tank-fed system can provide a dedicated stored-water reserve where emergency water availability, pressure or flow needs to be secured independently.
A freeze-protected system addresses a different problem by protecting water-containing components against freezing in cold outdoor environments.
For other projects, factors such as extreme heat, water temperature, corrosion environment, hazardous-area classification, alarm requirements and remote signaling may require different configurations.
DAO therefore provides tank-fed, freeze-protected, temperature-controlled, enclosed and customized emergency shower and eyewash systems according to project requirements.
