Lid-activated combination shower and eyewash for dusty outdoor pads

A combination station that leaves the eyewash bowl open will fill with grit, rust scale, and insects. A station that needs two hands — one for the lid, one for the paddle — wastes seconds after a splash. DAAO6610-D is a compound emergency shower and eye wash with a PVC bowl lid mechanically linked to the eyewash valve: lift the lid and the wash starts at the same time. Height is 2410 mm. The drench rose and the bowl are both 10 inch / 26 cm. Flows meet the ANSI and EN floors: shower ≥ 75.7 L/min, eyewash ≥ 11.4 L/min. The riser is 304 stainless, 316L optional. Pipe wall is 2.5–3 mm. Inlet and drain are NPT 1-1/4. Working pressure is 0.2–0.8 MPa. Standards are ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154-1/2:2006.

This model sits in integrated emergency systems. It is a floor-mounted combination unit, not an enclosed booth and not the yellow ABS-coated DAAO6613. Specify this lid-linked version where the pad is dusty, windy, or outdoors and the eyewash must stay covered until the moment of use. Why the lid and the valve must move together

The remark on the data sheet is the product: the eyewash bowl lid is linked with the eyewash valve; opening the lid activates the eyewash simultaneously. That is a one-motion start. The casualty does not hunt for a push plate with burned or gloved hands. The PVC cover also keeps the 10 inch bowl and the twin aerators clean between weekly tests, so the first water out is a flush, not a slurry. After use, closing the lid shuts the valve on this linkage design — confirm the exact open/close logic on the GA, and train operators that the lid is the actuator, not a dust cap to be set aside.

An emergency eyewash and shower station is first aid. The overhead 10 inch rose handles the body; the lid-operated bowl handles both eyes. Valves must stay open hands-free once started so the user can strip contaminated clothing. The pull rod on the shower and the linked lid on the eyewash are those stay-open actions. Do not add a spring that slams the lid and cuts the water mid-flush.

304 or 316L, PVC lid, and 2.5–3 mm pipe

The pressure boundary is stainless: 304 as standard, 316L for chloride, coastal, and bleach service. The lid is polyvinyl chloride (PVC) — light, chemical-resistant, and visible against the mill-finish bowl. PVC is not the pipe. If the client forbids plastics in the splash zone, say so on the inquiry; a stainless lid on the same linkage is an engineering option, not the catalog default. Pipe wall 2.5–3 mm holds the 2410 mm riser straight under outdoor knocks and weekly pull-rod tests.

Working pressure is 0.2–0.8 MPa, a wider band than some coated combination units. Stay inside it. Below 0.2 MPa the 11.4 L/min eye pattern and the 75.7 L/min rose will not certify. Above 0.8 MPa fit a regulator so the stream is not injurious. Inlet NPT 1-1/4 matches a standard combination header. Drain NPT 1-1/4 must go to a chemical sewer or neutralization sump. A 15-minute dual flush is more than a tonne of contaminated water; do not put it on storm water.

Temperature tag versus outdoor and cold-climate badges

The working-environment line is 10 °C to 35 °C. That is an unheated, untraced stainless combination unit. “Outdoors” and “cold climates” describe where the 304/316L + PVC build can be sited in cool weather; they do not mean the water will flow at −10 °C. For frost, specify heat tracing or a heated enclosure. Heat tracing stops ice in the riser and bowl. It does not by itself provide tepid water (commonly discussed as about 16–38 °C). Add a mixing valve or a tempered water system if the standard requires it.

Siting, weekly test, and hazardous-area extras

Bolt the base plate to a level, drained plinth within a 10-second travel of the splash hazard (about 16.8 m / 55 ft on a clear path in ANSI discussion, closer for strong corrosives). Keep the path free of pallets and hose reels. The stainless riser and the white PVC lid should be obvious from the aisle; add the usual green shower pictogram if the mill finish disappears against equipment. Weekly: lift the lid and confirm both eye streams, a stay-open valve, and a clean aerator; pull the shower rod and confirm the 10 inch pattern and the drain. Close the lid only after the test so dust does not sit in a wet bowl.

The pedestal itself has no motor. Hazardous-area suitability applies to siting and to any electrical add-on — flow switch, beacon, or heat trace. Those extras must match the area classification. Do not drill the 2.5–3 mm column for a random box and call the assembly flameproof.

Questions buyers ask before the PO

How is this different from DAAO6613?

DAAO6610-D is mill-finish 304/316L with a PVC lid that is the eyewash actuator. DAAO6613 is ABS-coated for high-visibility yellow and uses a conventional eyewash start. Pressure band here is 0.2–0.8 MPa. Choose lid-activated when bowl cleanliness and one-motion start matter more than a coated column.

Does opening the lid meet “hands-free” stay-open?

The linkage is designed so lifting the lid opens the valve and the lid stays up while the user holds their eyes in the stream. Confirm on the drawing that the lid cannot fall closed under its own weight during a 15-minute flush. That is a training and inspection point, not a brochure claim to skip.

304 or 316L? Can the lid be stainless?

304 is standard. 316L is the chloride / coastal option. Catalog lid is PVC. Stainless lid on the same linkage is a quoted option if plastics are banned.

Will it run below 10 °C?

Not as a freeze-protected unit. Order tracing or a booth if winter design is below the 10–35 °C line.

Why 10 inch on rose and bowl?

A 26 cm rose spreads ≥ 75.7 L/min across the shoulders. A 26 cm bowl keeps ≥ 11.4 L/min on both eyes and gives the PVC lid a full cover so the aerators stay clean.
