Indoor skid-mount tempered-water emergency wash station

A wall eyewash on city water will deliver ice-cold flush in a winter plant and scalding water if a hot tap is piped wrong. DAAO6607-A is a skid-mount emergency wash station that mixes heated and cold water on the skid, then feeds the eyewash (and, when specified, combination showers) at the tepid range required by ANSI Z358.1-2014. What “tempered” means on this skid

ANSI/ISEA Z358.1-2014 does not only set litres per minute. It expects flushing fluid that a casualty can stand under for 15 minutes. Industry practice treats that as about 16–38 °C (tepid). DAAO6607-A heats stored water electrically, blends it with cold supply in the mixer, and circulates so the first second at the eyewash is not a slug of cold pipe. The pressure pump holds the head the eyewash needs; the circulating pump keeps the loop from stagnating between weekly tests. It is sized to set down with a forklift, level, and pipe. Indoor factory use is the design case. Do not site this unheated outdoor package at −20 °C and expect the 5–35 °C ambient line to hold; for freeze yards use a cable-heated combination unit or an insulated booth.

The same skid can run as a complete stand-alone wash package (eyewash and, where fitted, shower and curtain on the deck) or as a multi-shower feeder: one tempered loop supplying several combination stations in the hall. Temperature and electrical options are quoted to the plant voltage and the number of heads. A modest privacy curtain and an alarm package (local beacon / sounder when the eyewash or shower is pulled) are listed so the casualty has cover and the control room knows the unit was used.

Heat source: electric tank, steam storage, or steam supply

The standard description is an electric heating storage tank. The same tempered mixing train can take integrated hot water from steam storage or a plant steam supply when the factory already has steam and the client prefers not to add another large electric load. In all three cases the mixer — a thermostatic mixing arrangement — is what protects the casualty from a failed hot leg. Specify fail-safe toward cold, not toward hot, on the inquiry. Multiple temperature and electrical options exist; do not assume 380 V / three-phase unless the quote says so.

How to specify this skid versus a heated pedestal

Use DAAO6607-A when the problem is temperature of the water inside a building. Use a cable-heated outdoor combination unit when the problem is ice in the pipe in the yard. Use an enclosed booth when you need wind, privacy, and a 316 room. One PO can mix them: this skid as the tempered plant, pedestals as the outlets, booths at the loading rack. Do not write “skid shower” and “−25 °C heat trace” on the same line item.

Questions buyers ask before the PO

Is 5–35 °C the water temperature?

No. That is the room the skid may sit in. The mixed flushing fluid is designed to the ANSI tepid band. Confirm the set point on the mixer data sheet.

Can it feed more than one shower?

Yes, as a multi-shower feeder if we size the tank, pumps, and mixer for the simultaneous flow. State how many roses and eyewashes can run at once.

Electric or steam?

Electric storage is the catalog default and does not need a steam main. Steam storage or steam supply is for plants that already have steam and want a smaller electric bill. The mixer stays either way.

Is it a full decontamination booth?

It can be a stand-alone wash package with curtain and alarm. It is not a 2200 × 2800 mm outdoor 316 room. If you need a walk-in enclosure, say so; this SKU is the indoor skid.
