Stainless freeze-protected combination shower for outdoor hazardous pads

A mill-finish combination unit looks right on a stainless pipe rack — until the first hard frost locks the eyewash. DAAO6615-EF-G is the cable-heated, freeze-protected version of that outdoor station: 2410 mm tall, 304 stainless (316L optional), ABS engineering-plastic shell, and PP insulation over 2.5 mm pipe. The catalog heater is 200 W at 220 V / 50 Hz (other voltages and wattages on request). Ambient is −25 °C to 35 °C. Functions are eye washing, body showering, and water heating. Flows meet the standard floors: shower ≥ 75.7 L/min, eyewash ≥ 11.4 L/min. Inlet and drain are NPT 1-1/4. Working pressure is 0.2–0.6 MPa. Explosion-proof marking is Ex II T4–T6. Standards are ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154-1/2:2006.

This SKU sits in cable heated systems. It is the stainless-presentation brother of the green-jacket DAAO6615-EH-Z: same thermal class, same 2410 mm combination geometry, different face for plants that specify visible stainless and a beacon on the riser. It is not the 1010 mm DAAO6620-DF eyewash pedestal and not an unheated DAAO6613 coated frame.

What you see on the riser — and what keeps it from freezing

The photo is a Guardist combination column: overhead rose, stay-open pull rod, bowl eyewash with yellow dust covers, junction box, and a red alarm beacon at the top. The data sheet still calls for an ABS shell and PP insulation. That jacket is the thermal blanket around the 2.5 mm pipe and the 200 W cable. Strip it off for a “cleaner” look and the −25 °C rating no longer applies. Heat tracing without insulation is a heater fighting the wind.

An emergency eyewash and shower station must deliver flushing fluid in seconds and hold it 15 minutes hands-free. ANSI/ISEA Z358.1-2014 sets the shower at ≥ 75.7 L/min (20 gpm) and the eye/face wash at ≥ 11.4 L/min (3.0 gpm). EN 15154-1 and EN 15154-2:2006 cover the same duty. Stay inside 0.2–0.6 MPa. The cable keeps the path liquid; it does not by itself hold tepid water (commonly discussed as about 16–38 °C). If the spec requires tepid fluid, add a mixer or a tempered water system.

Ex II T4–T6, 220 V, and the beacon

Group II is gas atmospheres other than mines. T4 limits surface temperature to 135 °C; T6 to 85 °C. Stamp the class on the drawing, not the cheaper default. The 220 V heater circuit, glands, and the beacon must be the same Ex family as the tag. Hazardous-area suitability is only true when that bill of materials matches the area classification. The red lamp is not decoration. When the shower pull or the eyewash paddle opens, the beacon tells the aisle and, if wired, the control room that the unit was used. Confirm whether the lamp is local only or part of a sound-and-light package on the quote. Isolate the 200 W trace where the night shift can see that freeze protection is live. A stainless column with the breaker off is only sculpture.

304 or 316L on an outdoor heated riser

304 is the catalog wet-parts alloy. 316L is the chloride, coastal, and bleach upgrade — worth it when the same rack is already 316L pipe. ABS and PP stay on the insulation package; they are not the pressure boundary. Custom 60 Hz and higher wattage exist for sites colder than −25 °C or for long uninsulated inlet spools. Send winter dry-bulb and wind with the RFQ.

EF-G versus EH-Z on the same 6615 platform

Both are 2410 mm, 200 W, −25 °C combination stations with ABS/PP around 2.5 mm pipe. Order EF-G when the client wants the stainless column, yellow eyewash covers, and riser beacon shown here. Order EH-Z when the spec calls for the full green insulated jacket as the visible unit. Do not mix the two suffixes on one isometric and expect the same appearance package.

Questions buyers ask before the PO

Is the stainless column bare pipe?

No. The visible rose, bowl, and post are stainless; the freeze rating depends on the PP insulation and ABS shell around the heated run. Keep that jacket on.

Will 200 W hold −25 °C?

That is the catalog point with insulation installed. High wind or a missing inlet trace still freezes. Give us dry-bulb and wind to confirm or upsize.

Does heat make the flush tepid?

No. Heat stops ice. Tepid water is a mixer or skid. Order both if ANSI temperature is in the spec.

T4 or T6?

Follow the area classification. T6 is the colder surface limit. One class on the nameplate.
